Wednesday--Family Foto Fun ;-)

We played around and took these on the computer camera.  Keep an eye on Isaac ;-)

We're so mean, aren't we?  The poor baby is scared, and we all turn and laugh at him.  This is the actual progression of the photos we took.  We didn't catch all of his looks, but Isaac actually turned his head and looked at each one of us...like in Brady Bunch style, except he was more upset with each look.  It was a fun few minutes that gave us all a good laugh--well, all except Isaac ;-)

Catching up--Post 250!

Wow!  This is our 250th Blog post!  It seems like it should be about something wonderful and thought provoking rather than catching up on pictures from the past couple of days.

Sunday we got up and went to church.  We went to a new Mexican restaurant for dinner.  YUM!  We spent the rest of the day hanging out, Daddy doing homework, reading, and mostly soothing a baby with a very unhappy tummy.  (No, not from the food ;-))

Josiah asked Elizabeth to read the book to him.  Gives
me a big smile!  :-D

Monday, Elizabeth was back to school.   Josiah was up pretty early, but thankfully Isaac slept in.  The boys and I got ready and headed out to the doctor for Isaac's four month appointment.  (Isaac weighed in at 15lbs 6 oz, and was just over 26 inches long.  I measured Josiah at 36 inches tall.)  Josiah spent the whole time in the car and during the appointment saying he didn't want shots.  Unfortunately both boys needed shots.  Isaac cried for a moment and then happily played in his seat while I held a screaming big brother.  Josiah needed a couple minutes to collect himself, but then he was bouncing off the walls and talking a mile a minute.  He got to choose where we went for lunch.  We picked up Elizabeth and then both boys took long naps...thank goodness!  We had a normal evening at home, and now I'm trying to get Isaac settled in for the night.

One of the times we came in today, Josiah and I ran upstairs for something.  When we came downstairs, he realized Isaac was still in his carseat.  He ran over to him.  "Oh no, Mommy!  Isaac still in his seat!  Don't worry, Isaac.  I get you out."  So sweet :-)  So glad I was right behind him and he hasn't figured out how to quickly open Isaac's seat yet.  :-D

Falling Behind

We've had a busy couple of days, and I'm falling behind with pictures.

Thursday, the boys and I picked Elizabeth up from school and headed out for a drive.  My dad had a business trip up in Northern Va, so we went up to meet him for dinner.  We threw paper airplanes in his hotel room for about an hour, then headed to Chick-fil-A.  We didn't have a whole lot of time as Elizabeth had to get up for school the next morning, but we enjoyed the time we had.  Of course, I forgot my camera, so I didn't get any pictures.  :-(

Friday, Elizabeth came home very excited about having participated in Jump Rope and Hoops for Hearts at school.  With all of the snow days in the beginning of the month, they missed the original day.  She came home with a big Hot Wheels temp. tattoo in the middle of her forehead.  It stayed there until Sunday night.

Sweet pics of my oldest and youngest

Saturday, we again headed up to Northern VA...this time Daddy came along, too :-)  We had lunch with Ms. Kristen, then spent the evening with the Barnes family.  We had a great day spending time with friends.  I didn't get many good pictures, though.

(I think Josiah took this one)

Goldfish

Would you like some Goldfish?

Elizabeth would!  This picture makes me think of one of Paula's songs.  "Little fishy in the sea, unsuspecting as can be.  Then along comes little me.  Nom nom nom nom nom" :-)

I've got two teeth in!  Food looks so yummy!  When do I get to have Goldfish?

The Eyes Have It

I tried to experiment some with getting eye shots today.  My camera isn't much more than point and shoot...even though David has tried to buy me better cameras several times.  So they didn't turn out the best, but a few are still kind of neat.  Do you know who's eyes these are?

Yeah, we've been watching the Elympics*

Josiah and Elizabeth skiing

Isaac exhausted from trying to watch Olympics and Maryland Basketball with Daddy...at the same time.

* So, Elizabeth has this thing lately where she starts a lot of words with a long E sound instead of the correct vowel sound....Elympics, Edult (adult), Edoption (adoption).  We keep telling her that just because her name begins with an E, doesn't mean she can make every other word begin the same way. ;-)

Happy Valentine's Day

Sometimes we are happy.  Sometimes mad.  Sometimes tired.

Sometimes the message gets a little turned around.

But we hope you always know...
and we are so thankful for you!

Blessings, from the Babers

Saturday

Today we were blessed with the chance to meet some other transracial adoptive families.  Several were even involved with Ethiopian adoptions.  We drove about an hour to hang out and let the kids play.  We don't mind driving, and will definitely try to join the group again.  But we do hope to meet some other families in our town, as well.

Isaac was a charmer today.  He did a great job just hanging out and smiling.  He's becoming a lot more vocal, and just chatters on...especially when his siblings aren't around (I can't blame him.  It's hard to get a word in when they are near ;-))  When he was in the play area, he yelled out at the kids to come pay attention to him.  He has had a rough couple of evenings lately as his teeth have been coming in.  He's been using the pacifier a bit more than I would prefer, but it's better than some of the other things he could be gnawing on. ;-)

Josiah has been doing a lot of cheesing lately.  Heehee.  I'm trying to be better about taking candid shots instead of always posed pics.  When we told Josiah that one of the girls was from Ethiopia like him.  He seemed surprised.  Everytime we mention Ethiopia, he says, "Like Me!"  I am excited that he is starting to grasp more about his background.

Elizabeth is quite the poser for pictures.  She's missed having school the past couple of weeks, and is excited to go back.  She is waiting to lose her top middle two teeth, and is constantly wiggling them.

Wednesday - another lazy day

Watching some morning cartoons

Giving Diego some love

Making faces

By the way, I'm going to say that Isaac officially had his first tooth break through.  I think it was Monday.  I've been feeling his rubbing his gums to try to help them feel better.  It's hard to get a visual, because he just won't hold still long enough :-)  The second tooth on the bottom seems to have a corner poking through, but not the whole tooth yet.

Tuesday- still home

It was a Wii playing...

Pajama wearing...

Baby swinging...

Trio block building...

kind of day.
